Go ahead, if you’re able. Ask your grandfather about a time when service people answered your phone calls promptly, showed up on time to provide an estimate or called ahead if they were going to be unavoidably late. Stayed on the job until it was done and offered to correct in advance repair problems they could see in your future, problems you might never see coming on your own because they were paying attention to detail. Then only asking fair pay for their knowledge and effort.
Charles had a technician come out and treat our property for termites. He showed up on time and didn’t stop until the job was done. Charles then had Fred, his top carpenter, repair the damage. Fred and his assistant worked 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM for three solid days with just a short lunch break each day. When the job was complete Fred made sure every last bit of trash was bagged up and removed from our property.
There are still some service people who operate in a way your grandfather may have taken for granted. I found a few at Superior Solutions.
